WHOLE HUMANS
( NOT FINAL NAME )
A universe that came to me in a dream, or more specifically just one specific moment of the story. I was surprised by how much I saw in such a peculiar situation.
I was planning on turning this idea into a webcomic, or maybe a short animation. Something where I can freely play with the colors.
INTRODUCTION
In a dystopic future, the Earth has changed.
Due to the ever-growing population, humanity only focused on nuclear energy. Because of all the exposure to radioactivity, the Earth slowly turned into a nuclear winter. In parallel, some strange mutations started to appear on the survivors.
What started as simple marks on the body grew up into radical changes in the composition of some human beings :
It's like their molecules couldn't stand together and were literally melting, but without losing their mass, getting a composition close to the lava’s one. The fact that they also are hotter than what human skin can support doesn't help dismiss the comparison.
From there, the world was divided into two categories: The humans called "Stable" that are afraid of those who can harm them, and the humans that were affected by the mutation, called " Unstable", who struggle to be accepted. They are excluded and have to live in specialized areas, who are not the most comfortable places to be.
Some of the Unstable humans know that they can't be with the others, so they try to live in peace away from them.
But a lot of them feel rejected and misunderstood and want to take revenge for what the Stable humans did to them.
THE TWO TYPES OF HUMANS
THE WORLD
In response to the world's overpopulation, researchers used their time and effort working on nuclear power, giving up on fossil and renewable energy.
During that time, some serious troubles started to appear:
- Developing countries started building their own nuclear power plants, but due to low budgets and lack of knowledge, they were unstable and exploded, killing lots of people.
- Developed countries build more and more nuclear power plants. But to reduce their cost, they choose low-quality materials, conducting to breaks and explosions.
- With the more accessible knowledge via the internet, people tried their hands at using radioactive power to make their own energy, which resulted in death most of the time.
It was then decided that energy will be strictly monitored by the Nuclear power companies and distributed in little quantities to satisfy the population, making those companies the most powerful authorities.
MAIN CHARACTERS
IHOMA
Part of the rich population, he however suffered from it since he was young, being told that he should be ashamed to have good living conditions.
That's why he developed a social phobia, choosing to leave his family to live completely alone, and coming out only at night.
That's where he met Schield, whom he first avoided. But after being rescued by him from an Unstable Human attack, he will stay with him to feel safe, playing with his feelings and making him think that he likes him.
He's just anxious, and not really bad at heart... Or is he?
SCHIELD
In charge of protecting the population from the Unstable humans, he still feels a lot of compassion for them. Despite his job, he tries to help them the best he can.
But since that's frowned upon, he works alone, and most of the time at night.
That's where he met Ihoma, the only Stable person that he encountered during his work. Amused at first, he then grew attached and tried to know Ihoma better but got rejected due to his phobia.
Later, he managed to save him from an attack and was surprised to see him coming back, and wanting to stay with him.
He’s hiding, in his house, an Unstable girl that he rescued from one of his unit’s raids, alone and scared after they killed her parents.
He's nice at heart and trusts people. Some will say too much, but he still shows himself responsible despite his tough and fairly cruel job.
HEMMELL
She's an Unstable human who lives at Schield’s house.
He met her when he and his squad raided her parent's house and took pity on her.
Schield, remembering being in the same situation when he was young, take her with him and managed to keep her hidden.
Even if she's young, she's really mature and knows how to keep her mind clear. However, it doesn't stop her from being childish and carefree when she feels safe.
Schield managed to find her a t-shirt reserved to the agents for protection, who doesn't melt at her contact, to try to make her feel like she's not a monster.
